[ThH]

From The Prehistory of Black And Red Books

The two sites shown below were not sent to me with this title, but I think that few readers have heard of the Detroit Printing Co-op (1970-1980). On the other hand, several readers will have heard of the publishing initiative “Black & Red Books” and some may own or have read one of more of its publications. So, I chose this eye-catcher.

As it is, before Black & Red Books was the Detroit Printing Co-op (and before the Detroit Printing Co-op the Black & Red journal started in Kalamazoo, Michigan, in September 1968).

Below are pictures of the exhibition held last April about the Detroit Printing Co-op and about some writings by Fredy Perlman, mostly published by the Black & Red Books publishing initiative run by Fredy and Lorraine Perlman. Fredy is on two pictures of the printing shop (best on the one where it is not said) and Lorraine, as she is now, is on the last two pictures of the opening. A very clear picture of Fredy can be seen if you go to http://www.blackandred.org and click on “About B&R”.
